How Do You Remove Windows Messenger From Taskbar?

0

Windows Messenger is an online communication client that comes automatically installed with the Windows operating system. By default, your Windows Messenger status is continuously displayed in the taskbar in the lower-right corner of your screen. If you regularly use a different instant messaging program, you may want to delete Windows Messenger and remove its taskbar icon. Open the Start menu and click on the “Run” icon. Type “C:\WINDOWS\inf\sysoc.inf” into the text field and hit “Enter.” Find the line of text containing “msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,hide,7” and change it to “msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,7” in Notepad. Save the configuration file and close Notepad. Open the Start menu and click on “Control Panel.” Double-click on the “Add or Remove Programs” icon. Click on the button labeled “Add/Remove Windows Components.” Uncheck the box next to “Windows Messenger” and hit “Next” to delete the program and remove the taskbar icon.
