How Do You Remove Wood Parquet Floor Tiles?
Parquetry is a centuries-old process of laying down pieces of wood in a repeating geometric pattern. Parquet floor tiles are glued to a subfloor, usually made of concrete. The glue that holds the tile in place is very strong, and while removing parquet tiles isn’t complicated, it is hard work due to the strength of the glue. Put on your gloves and goggles. Open a window for ventilation. Find a loose tile and pry it away with a chisel. If there are no loose tiles, gently work at one tile edge with a chisel and hammer until you’ve created a small space between tiles. Avoid harming the subfloor beneath the tile. Put old tile in a box or trash can, and occasionally sweep up the dust. Push up against the edge of the remaining tiles with a straight edge tool or a garden edger. Use the force of your body and legs to disengage the tiles. If the straight edge doesn’t do the trick, go back to your chisel and hammer. Gently loosen tiles before prying them up with an edger or chisel. Repeat the pr
