Metal outdoor furniture should be checked periodically for rust and deterioration. Exposure to the elements can cause even the best paint job to wear and become a hazard to use. Repaint these items as needed to keep them properly maintained and ready for year-round use. Always use paint products made specifically for the right metal type (ferrous or wrought iron, aluminum, galvanized metal) for the best results. Keep track of paint brand, color name and number to sustain the original color. Remove any surfaces that are not metal–glass tops, decorative plastics–or protect these surfaces using painter’s tape.
