How Do You Repair Small Mirror Scratches?
Whether you have a scratch in a hand-held mirror, a wall mirror, a car mirror or a makeup mirror, scratches can interfere with the reflection the mirror gives you of an image. And scratches on car rear-view and side view mirrors can be dangerous if they get in the way of your being able to see other traffic on the road. If you have large mirror scratches, you will need to re-silver your mirror. You can eliminate small mirror scratches, however, with toothpaste. Spray glass cleaner on the mirror and wipe it off with a soft cloth, especially cleaning around the area of the small scratch. Apply toothpaste to a cotton swab and rub the cotton swab in small circles the total length of the scratch so that it is completely covered with the toothpaste. Use regular toothpaste; don’t use gel. Allow the toothpaste four hours to dry and crust. Wipe the toothpaste off the scratch with a soft cloth. The scratch should be gone. Repeat this process for other scratches.
