A clothes dryer belt is almost like a giant fan belt in your car. A motor turns the belt, which then turns the dryer drum, much like a fan belt turns an alternator or a power steering pump, while a dryer belt rotates your clothing inside. When the belt starts to squeal uncontrollably, or the belt breaks and the drum no longer turns, it is time to replace the the clothes dryer belt. Open up the top of the clothes dryer. If there is a top-mounted lint trap, take the trap out and then remove the screws beneath the actual trap. If your lint trap is behind the door, the top will be held shut with gravity clips, so simply grasp the top firmly and push it straight up. Hinges at the back will allow the top to open like a door. Remove the front cabinet mounting bolts with a nut driver, or equivalent. They will be located on each side near the top. Unscrew these and place them on the side. Pull the front of the cabinet apart from the front of the dryer. Do this gently. Look down the sides to see
