How Do You Replace A Crankshaft Position Sensor For A 2000 Chevrolet Tracker?

0

The 2000 Chevrolet Tracker was factory equipped with a crankshaft position sensor designed to monitor the speed at which the engine’s crankshaft was rotating, and then to adjust the engine’s ignition timing and each of the fuel injectors. When the sensor fails, the engine cannot be started. Remove the battery cables from the battery with a wrench. Locate the sensor at the rear of the cylinder head on the driver’s side of the engine. The sensor is located at the top of a circular black housing, which is secured to the cylinder head with three bolts. A single wiring harness plugs into the top of the sensor. Disconnect the sensor’s wiring harness by pulling the plug at the end of the harness out of the sensor. Remove the sensor’s single mounting bolt with a wrench, then pull the sensor out of the top of the housing. Insert the replacement sensor into the housing, then install and tighten the sensor’s single mounting bolt. The sensor need only be tightened until it is snug–over tightening
