In a Taurus with a V-6 engine, the fuel filter is under the car in front of the rear wheel on the passenger side. In a Taurus with a 4-cylinder engine, the fuel filter is on the passenger side of the engine compartment. Let the pressure out of the fuel system by gradually unscrewing the fuel tank fill cap. Use a screwdriver to loosen and remove the white clip near where the fuel line and filter meet. Pull the fuel lines off of both ends of the filter.
