A 1988 ford ranger heater core is a piece of cake. I assume you have a 2 liter carb. It may be the same on a fuel injection model. Drain the anti freeze. The stop is located on the driver’s side of the radiator at the base of the radiator. turn counter clockwise and pull. Of course have a pan ready to collect the antifreeze! On the firewall opposite the battery (passenger side are two heater hoses to disconnect. These are on the fire wall. Remove the hoses. Next go under the glove compartment in the cab and there is a plastic bracket with two screws. take out the screws and the core pulls right out. If you have taken the mess apart you can see how iot all goers back together. I replaced mine about 6 years ago. I paid 19.99 at Advanced auto parts. I believe Napa wanted $50 for it! Good luck and have fun. If you know of anyone who can do a main rear seal let ne know!
