How Do You Replace A Lap Siding Board?
Lap siding is a popular style of building material designed to provide moisture resistance and protection from ultra-violet light for your house. The term “lap siding” comes from the fact that the siding boards overlap one another, so that water is prevented from soaking in through seams between siding courses. Occasionally a lap siding board can become damaged. If the damage is severe, the board will need to be pried loose, then replaced with a new piece of lap siding. Use your pry bar to lift the bottom edge of the damaged board and expose the shafts of the nails holding the board to the wall. You can use the slater’s ripper to pull the nails, or a hack saw blade saw to cut the nail shafts. Find all of the nails holding the board in place and either pull or cut them so that the board can be removed. Remove the damaged board. Once you have cut all the nails you should now be able to pull the board free from the wall. In some cases you may have to loosen the board above with a pry bar
