There are two principle types of lights used in inground swimming pools. 1/ Vinyl ingrounds. The most popular type of light is made by Aqua Lamp. It’s actually a 12 volt tractor headlight bulb and retails for about 30 dollars. For this repair, it’s easy for the homeowner to do themselves as it is easy to do, low cost and because it’s 12 volts, little to no risk of harm to anyone. Turn off power to the light and either unplug it (if it’s an old style plug in) or shut off the breaker to the control box (if the new style). The bulb comes out of the niche by pressing against the light face and rotating the light anti clockwise about 1/3 of an inch. It will then pop off the pegs that are holding it in. There should be sufficient cord wrapped around the bulb to allow you to bring it on deck. There are four large head, phillips screws holding the face plate onto the housing.
