Replacing an old sliding patio door is a great way to give your home a new look without spending a lot of money. A glass door can bring more light into the kitchen area and add a clear view of the backyard. All you need is a screwdriver and a few minutes to quickly switch out your existing sliding patio door with a fresh, new one. Step 1 Loosen the screws at the top and bottom of the sliding patio door. The rollers will drop down, allowing you to pull the door out of the frame. Lift the sliding door straight up and pull the bottom edge out of the bottom track. Step 2 Measure the size of your old door to make sure you purchase a replacement sliding patio door that will fit in the existing frame. Step 3 Set the top edge of the new patio door into the top track. Lift up on the door and push the bottom edge until it snaps into the bottom track.
