From time to time circuit breakers will go bad; they will no longer stay in the "o"n position and trip continually. Knowing how to replace electrical circuit breakers can save you money, because you won't have to hire an electrical professional to replace it for you. As long as you know the make and model of your electrical breaker panel, you should have no issues replacing the breaker. Turn off the electricity to the breaker panel by turning off the main breaker located at the top of the panel. Remove the exterior cover from the breaker panel to access the breakers and wiring. If the electrical panel is flush mounted, the cover connects to the wall with screws in each corner. Remove the screws to remove the cover. Remove a surface-mounted exterior panel by lifting the door and removing the screw located at the bottom of the panel. Disconnect the black wire from the rear or from the breaker you are replacing.
