How Do You Replace Battery Cables In An Oldsmobile Alero?
When performing a routine inspection of your Oldsmobile Alero, put on gloves and check the battery cables. Find the battery under the hood on the driver’s side of the car behind the headlight. It’s a side-post battery, making the posts a little harder to reach. Look for wear and corrosion around the battery posts. If the teeth of the cables are touching, then you need to replace them. Loosen the bolt on the negative battery cable with the minus sign first, using a box wrench or cable clamp pliers. Carefully twist the cable end off the post, tapping it gently with a small hammer if it sticks. Repeat the process on the positive cable. Follow the negative cable to where it’s connected to the body of the Oldsmobile Alero next to the headlight assembly. Use a wrench to remove the end of the cable.
