How Do You Replace Ford Brake Calipers?
When your Ford begins pulling to one side while braking or you are beginning to smell something burning coming from the brakes, you may need to replace the brake calipers. Calipers use hydraulic pressure to press the brake pads against the rotor and stop the vehicle. Over time, the internal seals can wear out and cause locking up or uneven braking. No matter the problem, it is a safety issue and the calipers must be replaced immediately. Loosen, but do not remove the front lug nuts using a ratchet and socket. Jack up the front of the vehicle and secure it with jack stands. Remove the lug nuts and the wheels from the front of the vehicle. Place the drain pan under the brake system. Lock a set of vise grips over the rubber brake hose to prevent leakage. Cover the hose with a shop towel to prevent damage from the vise grips. Loosen and remove the brake hose flow-bolt with a ratchet and socket. The bolt connects the brake hose to the rear of the caliper. Discard the two brass washers as th
