How do you replace the antenna base on a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe?

My antenna broke off my 2001 Tahoe. I took it to the dealer & got a quote of over $300.00! I went to Autozone & purchased a small stud the correct size to fit the bottom of the antenna. I drilled & tapped the old antenna base, installed the stud, and replaced the antenna. I opted to place a small amount of JB Weld on the threads. It won’t come off now, but it has performed perfectly for over a year & still working. I realize this is not the perfect fix, but it was broken anyway. This may sound a little complicated, but it really wasn’t. I got the drill bit, the stud, and the tap all from Autozone for under $20.00. Good Luck.
