How do you replace the inside door handle on a 1999 Chevy Tahoe?
You must completely remove the door panel that is attached by clips and screws. Then remove the plastic covering over the door frame. The handle itself must be purchased as a complete mechanism from GM. It is riveted to the door frame and the rivet must be drilled to remove. The replacement unit must then be riveted back to the frame. The cracking of the handle is a common problem with the Tahoe, but the repair may be too much for the week-end mechanic to handle. You must be careful removing the clips that hold the door panel in place or they will be damaged during removal. I suggest that several new clips be purchased when you buy the handle assembly.
