How Do You Replace The Water Pump On A 1996 Cadillac Seville?

If you were quoted 500 smackers to put a water pump on your Cadillac, you can save by doing it yourself. Only the impeller gets replaced; its installed in the inner half of the pump body which stays on the engine and only the outer half is removed, to provide access. Inspect radiator hoses and bypass hoses before you go to the parts store to purchase the pump; if there are splits, holes or they’re brittle and hardened, you will need new ones. Label and take with, to match up. The plan is to assemble everything you need before the car is offline, like hose clamps, sealant, coolant, and Lithium grease. Purchase a replacement Impeller, seen in the top photo just to the left of center,(note the green coolant) and “O” ring seal. Borrow a GM Impeller tool from an auto parts store that loans tools for a small deposit, (about $30) which you get back when you return it. If you’re not reusing your old coolant, recycle it. Park your car over cardboard. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remov
