The C4 Corvette was manufactured by Chevrolet from 1984 to 1996. While many advancements were made in engines, transmissions and other parts, the window seals remained unchanged. The life span of the window seals is determined by many factors, such as exposure to sun, harsh conditions and chemicals. Even C4 corvettes that are well cared for and rarely driven will require new window seals eventually. A new set of seals protects the mechanisms inside the door and makes the car look new again. Roll down the window on which you are replacing the seal. Disconnect the positive terminal from the battery using a 5/16-inch wrench. Use the Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws holding the door speaker, door panel and door slide. Pull the door panel loose several inches with your hand, and disconnect the wires for the electrical switches in the door panel.
