How Do You Replace Toilet Fill Valve?
Old toilet valve is a quite possible cause of very annoying toilet leaks. Fortunately, replacing it is quite easy and can be done without hiring a plumber. All you need is a wrench or plumber’s pliers. Shut off the water and flush the toilet. Disconnect the toilet from water line. This is done outside of toilet and underneath the it in the right site. Use a wrench to make the valve bottom lose. Then rotate it and take it out. The old one looks like this. Buy a new one. I bought them from Home Depot. It is a good idea to replace the flapper at the same time. In the picture, left is fill valve, the red one is a flapper. Position the vale in the tank. Tighten the lock nut a half turn beyond hand tight. Connect the water supply. Attach the refill tube. Make sure the over flow is above the tube. Make sure the end of the tube is above water level.
