How Do You Restore A Tambour Desk Door?

Tambour desk making is an antique craft that was originally developed in colonial America. The tambour desk is similar to the roll-top desk with the exception that the tambour desk's slats run vertical while those of the roll-top desk are horizontal. However, despite this difference, the process of repairing the tambour is nearly identical. Step 1 Attempt to remove the entire tambour from the desk. If you cannot remove the tambour or if it breaks leaving part of the tambour inside the desk, you will need to disassemble the desk to retrieve it. If you are able to remove the whole tambour without disassembling the desk, proceed to step three. Step 2 To disassemble the desk you will need to either use your pliers or a small cat-paw or prybar to carefully remove the nails holding the top on.
