How Do You Safely Cook Thanksgiving Dinner?
Here are some simple rules to follow:
- Make sure your smoke detector’s batteries are working.
- Always have a fire detector near your stove and your oven.
- Make sure your food doesn’t spill out of your casserole dishes – set them on top of a cookie sheet so that you do not have a dirty oven to clean up.
- Keep anyone who is not cooking out of the kitchen – having more people in the kitchen with knives and food going everywhere means that there is a higher chance that something could go wrong.
- Make sure you are working in a well lit area.
- Stay calm! If you are stressed and flustered, you will be more likely to make a mistake.
- Cook by the recipes! If you are not a master chef, don’t try to cook like one. Do not cook a turkey by smell. If you undercook the turkey your guests will be disappointed and could get sick.
