Choose your shoes based on the knowledge that you will be subjecting your feet and legs to a lot of pounding, spinning and sliding. The most important consideration is minimizing foot strain. Swing dancing shoes come in a variety of styles, some of which recall the styles in the 40’s and 50’s when the dances originated. Your best bet is smooth soles, either leather or suede, which have the least friction. Some can be worn outside but others must only be worn on the dance floor. Get the right size.
