• Talk to your postmaster about package rates. It’s so much fun shopping, it’s easy to get carried away and end up with a very expensive postage rate. Find out what your most economical option might be. • Be certain of address. Especially in larger colleges and universities, be sure to address the package correctly. • Pick small, fun items, such as an inspirational paperback book, goofy toys, a CD, earrings, photos, or a funny movie on DVD. • Send non-perishable snacks, especially foods that are unusual, region or not readily available in the school dining hall. Be careful that if you are sending items in hot or cold weather, some foods may be affected… such as chocolate melting. • Include small essentials, which the busy student may forget, such as extra socks, underwear, powdered laundry detergent, lint brush, phone card, flip-flops (great for the shower) feminine supplies (especially overseas), bandannas, a collapsible hamper. • Write a note on a card telling them what’s going on
