How Do You Shoot A Compound Bow With Pin Sights?
Whether shooting a compound bow for recreation or for hunting, you want to make sure you can hit wherever you aim. Especially for hunting purposes, to make a humane kill, you want to be as accurate as possible. Pin sights mount to the main frame of the bow and can greatly improve accuracy when properly adjusted. Secure the first pin in the sight mount by screwing it into place. The first placement is somewhat arbitrary as you will need to fire the bow to begin making adjustments. Place your target 20 yards away. Notch an arrow, draw back the bow and aim at the target. Use your dominant eye (the right eye for a right-handed shooter) and align the tip of the sight pin with the target. Release the bow string. Take three or four shots to ensure that you are reasonably consistent. Adjust the sight pin in the direction of your miss by loosening it from the sight bracket and sliding it up or down.
