This means, you will need to shorten the blinds to fit the exact length of your window opening. While this is a quick and easy task, it does require careful and exact measurements to ensure the job is completed properly. Determine the number of slats to remove from blinds. Use a measuring tape to calculate the length of the window opening. Measure the point at which the window is completely covered. Match this length to the blinds, and count how many slats will fill the opening when they are in a closed position. Subtract one slat from this number to establish the correct number of slats to remove. Lower the blinds completely and make sure the cord is completely extended.
