Tall fescue sod grows dense, with roots which delve deeply into the soil. Tall fescue does well in drought conditions because of its deep-rooting habit and ability to find water deeper in the soil than other sods. These characteristics made tall fescue a favorite pasture grass, but it is now a favorite private lawn grass, especially in areas where water is scarce or water restrictions are commonplace. Contact more than one tall fescue sod producer and inquire about availability and price. Tall fescue in sod form is less available and sometimes more expensive than other types. Make sure it’s available in the gardener’s area at an agreeable price before readying the sod bed.
