You can remove sawdust with a can of compressed air or an air compressor if one is available. Depending of the wood species, you will want to use a pre-stain product, such as Minwax pre-stain. If you have a soft wood such as pine, aspen or Popular, you should use prestain. If you have a hardwood such as Oak, Mahogony or Maple, a prestain is not needed. Simply follow the instructions on the prestain container for application needs. Mostly it is only an apply with a foam brush, wipe off the excess and then apply the stain within a two hour period.
