It’s a submissive/confidence issue, not a training issue and it’s very important that you do not get upset with the dog when he does this. You need to just ignore it and act as though you don’t even see he’s done it. I know it’s easier said than done, but if he feels you are even slightly upset, it’s going to get worse. Moving to a new place probably just upset his routine and made him feel more vulnerable. Most dogs do outgrow this as they gain confidence. You can help him through obedience training and LOTS of praise when he gets things right. Your boyfriend should be the one do to most of this.

Ohhh, how I know about this problem. My female puppy did the same thing for a while, and she still does it occasionally. First of all, I will tell you that sometimes, they just have to grow out of it. Submissive urination is a fairly common thing in puppies, for several reasons. To start, they are new to the world and they lack the confidence that many older dogs have. They don’t know much and they can easily become confused about their “place” in the pack (which is you, your boyfriend, and Boston!). He needs to know that he is NOT the alpha, but he should not learn that through intimidation. If your dog pees submissively, do not, I repeat, DO NOT get angry at him. Take him outside and encourage him to “go potty” as you would with any other accident, but do not scold him, because this will only scare him and further encourage him to be submissive.
