How Do You Stop Being Called A Child?

• Try to develop a more advanced vocabulary. Read not just magazines but stories with real words in them. • When communicating in writing, use real words in proper sentences, not slang, IM or SMS shorthand. This looks much better to the teachers, your parents who might read your work or the students who might read it too. • Work on your spelling, grammar, usage, and punctuation — especially using periods, semicolons, and commas properly. Don’t skip periods; your message will be impossible to read. • Redo your room. Make it clean and organized. Also if you have posters of Barney or High School Musical up, take them down. That will just make you look like a child. If you have colorful furniture, either get it painted, get new furniture or cover it with pictures. Beware: the last one can look messy, so be careful. • Think about the motivations behind someone’s attitude toward you. When somebody calls you a child, think about why they may have said it. Is it just your physical appearance?
