How do you stop Kwila decking from staining?
New kwila decking will stain when it gets wet.Over time it silvers off and staining ceases.If,however, the stains are around the fixings then could be caused when galvanised nail is punched.Some builders never punch these nails and leave them flush with surface.When the galv.nail is punched,the head of the nail loses the galv(zinc)coating and the ensuing rust reacts with the tannins/oils of the timber,resulting in staining.Eucalypt timber is especially renowned for this.
