Just because the item has shrunk doesn’t necessarily mean it’s completely ruined. Wool can be a difficult fabric to wash and care for. This method does not work for all wool clothing, but it is worth trying before getting rid of it. Step 1 Dissolve 1 cup of Epsom Salts in 1 gallon of very hot water and allow the water to cool to room temperature. Use a plastic container or a porcelain bathtub. Step 2 Place the woolen item into the water. Be sure the entire piece is completely under the water. Step 3 Allow the garment to soak for 30 to 45 minutes. Step 4 Remove the woolen item from the bucket or tub and lay flat on top of a layer of towels. Step 5 Firmly grasp the shoulders of the garment in each hand and pull on the item.
