How Do You Stretch Wool That Has Been Shrunk?
If you have ever shrunken a wool sweater, jacket, pants or any other garment that is made of wool, you know the frustration of ruining your clothes. Just because the item has shrunk doesn’t necessarily mean it’s completely ruined. Wool can be a difficult fabric to wash and care for. This method does not work for all wool clothing, but it is worth trying before getting rid of it. Step 1 Dissolve 1 cup of Epsom Salts in 1 gallon of very hot water and allow the water to cool to room temperature. Use a plastic container or a porcelain bathtub. Step 2 Place the woolen item into the water. Be sure the entire piece is completely under the water. Step 3 Allow the garment to soak for 30 to 45 minutes. Step 4 Remove the woolen item from the bucket or tub and lay flat on top of a layer of towels. Step 5 Firmly grasp the shoulders of the garment in each hand and pull on the item.
