There has not been any conclusive test whether genetically engineered (GE) foods cause allergic reactions, yet these foods are still available to consumers. It is mandatory that GE foods are labeled in Europe, Japan, China, Australia and New Zealand, but the United States and Canada don’t have this requirement. Why should Canadian and American consumers become the guinea pigs in this experiment? You can help the cause by supporting non-genetically engineered foods (GMOs). Avoid eating and purchasing foods that could be potential GMOs like corn, rapeseed (canola), flax, alfalfa, papaya and squash, which are commonly engineered. Purchase local grown crops that are organic and state on the packaging that they are not GMOs. If you are unsure as to whether or not the farm genetically engineers their crops, don’t buy the product or call the manufacturer. Support legislation that requires food to be marked as a GMO.
