How Do You Survive A Chemical Weapon Attack?
Strategically, chemical weapons are ineffective weapons of mass destruction. A chemical attack on a given area could cause casualties among those caught in the strike. Here are some techniques that people in these areas might use to lessen the impact upon themselves. Stay out of the wind. A generalized attack would need to be airborne so an effective chemical attack would come from upwind at times of high barometric pressure, usually dawn and dusk. Cover your whole body as best you can. Many chemical agents are particulates or liquids and cannot go through clothing. Go indoors if you can. Keep windows and air inlets sealed, especially on the upwind side of the building. Wait indoors. Sun and wind can help degrade many chemical agents. Use a chemical detector if one is available to test the air. Clean everything that was left outside.
