After you survive a tornado, you may think that you can survive anything. That is, until you get to the shelter that is likely to be your home for at least a few days. Living in close quarters with strangers will probably get on your nerves. It is important, however, that you use this time to get the support of other survivors and give support to those who need it. Bring your own bedding with you to the shelter if possible. This will allow you to have a minor comfort from home. As a bonus, you will probably sleep easier knowing that the bedding has been used by only your family since it was last washed. Be patient and understanding. Sure, that screaming baby and the lady who constantly talks to you will annoy you. It is important for you to remember that the other people in the shelter are just as annoyed as you and want to be home just as much as you. Try to find things to occupy your children. It is very easy for children to get bored. You may have to get creative to keep them happy.
