Betta fish are easily cared for and do well in small bowls/tanks. They are great pets and can be a best friend. Choose the proper home for your betta, a betta should never be housed in anything under 1 gallon, preferably 2.5 gallons. Setup the bowl/tank with gravel (rinse it first), add a java fern plant, and filled with treated tap water. If it’s a tank add your heater, and filter and let the tank cycle. The temperature should be 70 degrees Farenheit to 80 degrees. Acclimate the fish to his home by floating his cup/bag in the bowl/tank for one hour, then take half his water out and replace it with tank/bowl water, let him float for another 30 minuets, then net him and place him in his new home. Feed your betta once a day, about 3 pellets, remove any uneaten food. Bettas wont eat flake foods, they have a reputation for being picky. If your betta is in a bowl, change the water completely once a week, if he is in a tank with a filter you can do weekly water changes of 25%.
