Insect bites can become very uncomfortable if left untreated, follow these simple steps to relieve the infected area. Take a playing card and or credit card any scrape along the insect bite area, to remove any left over stinger from the little bugger. If the stinger is left in the wound it could cause inflamation and infection at the site. Clean infected area with warm, soapy water and a clean washcloth. Dry the area completely. Warm soapy water will dilute any poison remaining on the wound site, thus reducing the itch and swelling of the bite area. Take about 1 tablespoon of baking soda and a little water and mix until you have a thick paste, add soda or water to get pasty consistency. apply to insect bite area, leave on infected area until dry and crusty. As the paste dries it will draw out any venom or poison left in the wound, thus relieving any itch or pain.
