Refer to your telemark skis as your “tele boards.” Learn some tele sayings, such as “free the heel and free your mind.” Make fun of alpine skiers by telling them to lose the “training heels.” Call a fellow tele skier a “pinhead.” This is a friendly term for a telemark skier that is derived from the classic three-pin bindings used while skiing. Putting on your skins and hiking uphill is called “skinning up.” Grab those skins, hike up a mountain and call it “touring” instead of backcountry or extreme telemark skiing.
