How Do You Teach Morality Using Picture Books?

0

A person will ultimately develop his own morality with age and experience. However, picture books illustrating right from wrong can benefit any young person. Talk to the child about what morals are. Make it clear to the child that while he will establish his own morals with time, right and wrong can and should be learned as they are the principles behind morals. Obtain a picture book that illustrates right and wrong. Be sure that the pictures are large in order to present them as the focal points. Point out the differences between right and wrong in the book. Review and repeat in order to allow the child to completely grasp the two concepts. Once the child is able to differentiate between right and wrong in the picture book, begin to explain the morals associated with each illustration. Repeat, explain and review as much as necessary for the child to attain a firm understanding of the correlation between right, wrong and morals.
