How Do You Teach Music In Kindergarten?
“When teaching music to children, it’s important to start at the basics. you’ll want to teach children how to be able to distinguish the rhythm in a song. Practice clapping out beats that you presented to the children. For example, if you would clap to them…have them repeat that clapping pattern back to you. After they’ve mastered this with clapping, you can add in a few more snaps. We like to do snaps along with claps. Then you may want to put on music and have the children find the rhythm along with you and have them practice clapping out the rhythm of the music. To teach music appreciation, present the children with as many different genres of music available. Use CD’s and tapes, and MP3’s as you see fit to give them new songs. You can use a variety of children’s songs, you can even have the children take a typical song and rewrite it with new words or to a new tune. I have to see what else I have. Okay.
