The expression "breed like rabbits" rings true for a reason. If you plan to house two rabbits in the same cage and don't want more rabbits, you will want to know their sex. To tell a male from a female rabbit, you will have to give them a close inspection once they are at least 9 weeks old. Turn your rabbit over onto its back. Look between the hind legs, just in front of the base of the tail. Or run your fingers through the fur. If the rabbit is a sexually mature male and unaltered, you will either see or feel the male testicles. If you don't find testicles, look for an obvious opening in front of the rabbit's tail. Both male and females will have this opening, which is the anus. Place your fingers on each side of this opening and gently pull. You will now see that the opening is actually two.
