When any Parrot is happy, they will sing, and dance, and Amazons will talk (if they were taught), climb around in their cage, and so on. In short, they are active. Parrots pick their people, and when this happens, that person is the only one who can handle the bird. It sounds like this particular bird has “picked his person” and the Amazon now needs to be worked out of this. It is a long process, but it can be done. It does take time, patience, repitition, and a lot of love. You can start by Someone being in the room with Steve. The other person should go near the bird, and when the bird lunges, both people should walk out of the room for a couple of minutes, then both people go back into the room. Keep repeating this. After awhile, the bird will get the idea, and the next level can be reached. Now bring the bird out of the cage, and repeat this process. When the bird lunges at you, do not say anything, just leave.
