Testing short term memory is sometimes necessary and also helpful to gauge the full health of an athlete. Testing an athlete’s short term memory is easy if done correctly. Give the athlete a short list of words, numbers, plays or whatever you choose to memorize. Be sure to keep in mind the level of difficulty of the lists as this may change the results. You may also want to have a time limit in mind for them to go by. Have the athlete repeat the information (or as much as they can remember) back to you after retrieving the information given for them to memorize (if applicable) and record their results.
