How Do You Train Puppies Not To Bite Fingers?
Whether it is due to teething or simply wanting to play, puppies often go through a biting phase. Some puppies prefer to chew on you, and your hands and fingers are an easy, familiar target. Puppies should be trained as soon as possible to not bite people, before the problem worsens. It may take some time, but with patience you can teach your dog what it can and cannot bite. React somewhat sharply when your puppy first gets a mouthful of your fingers, saying, “Ouch!” This will startle your puppy and break its focus. Grab around the puppies mouth gently and firmly say, “No bite.” Provide the puppy with a chew toy. If the puppy is around 3 to 4 months old and is teething, tie a cloth into a big not, saturate it with water and freeze it. Once frozen, give it to the puppy to chew on.
