How Do You Treat Hysterical Amblyopia?
Hysterical amblyopia often occurs when an eye isn’t used enough. This condition is most common in childhood, and is sometimes referred to as having a “lazy eye.” This causes one eye to become weaker, and can result in vision loss in the affected eye. However, with early treatment, that vision loss can be prevented. Ask your doctor to prescribe glasses. Using glasses can improve focus in your weak eye. Your doctor will write a prescription for glasses and monitor your progress to ensure their effectiveness. Consider using a patch. Although most patients aren’t fond of this treatment, it can be affective in training the weak eye. The strong eye is covered with a patch, which forces the weak eye to work harder.
