A mesquite tree can add beauty to your yard, but they require constant attention though. You have to trim these fast growing trees regularly to prevent them from getting heavy and falling due to strong winds. Follow these steps to trim a mesquite tree. Step 1 Remove all dead limbs and branches and dense growth from the mesquite tree. Use regular garden pruners to trim away thin limbs or new growth. Make sure they are sharp because dull pruners can cause a lot more harm than good. Step 2 Trim large-sized limbs with a chainsaw. Use lopping shears for thick branches.
