How Do You Troubleshoot A Baseboard Heater Thermostat?
When you need heat, the last thing you want is to have problems with the thermostat for your baseboard heater. Still, rest assured that if your thermostat acts up, you’ll probably be able to find the problem with a few tools and a little patience. Check for a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker. Electric baseboard thermostats often are connected to the circuitry that controls the entire heating and cooling system. If you have a power surge or your fuse is blown, the circuit may be interrupted, blocking voltage to the thermostat. If your thermostat is programmable, check to see if it has defaulted to the manufacturer’s settings. This can happen when you lose power or because of a problem with how the thermostat was coded. You can check the default settings in the programming menu (how to access the menu varies with each model) and then compare it with the current thermostat settings. If they match, the thermostat probably defaulted. Check the wiring connected to the thermostat termina
