How Do You Troubleshoot Swimming Pool Problems?
A swimming pool offers many hours of warm-weather fun as a backyard entertainment center for the entire family. For the most part, pools are trouble free as long as you follow a routine maintenance schedule. Unfortunately, you do need to occasionally troubleshoot swimming pool problems, which can often be solved without a call to a pool service technician. Measure how much the water line has decreased if you suspect a leak. Some water loss due to evaporation and splash out is normal; if you add more than 2 inches of water a week, check for signs of leaks. Walk around the outside of the pool, and look for soggy areas in the ground that might indicate water is leaking from the pool. Check for cracks in the pool’s surface and around the edges of the decking. Test the electricity on all circuits to make sure the water pump is working. A tripped circuit breaker or ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) may be the cause. Also look for leaks around seals and bearings that may cause the pump
