When you are browsing the Internet and see a program using Java, you have encountered a Java applet. Applets are simply programs developed using Java tools. Java programs are sent to the user’s computer, where they run on a virtual machine known as JVM. If you have Java already installed but can’t get your web browser to work with the applets, then your browser probably has Java disabled. You go into each browser’s settings menu and enable the Java applets so you can view them. Open a Firefox browser and select the “Tools” menu from the top menu bar. Click “Options.” Click the tab labeled “Content.” Check the box beside “Enable JavaScript” and save the settings. Start an Internet Explorer browser and navigate to the “Tools” menu in the main menu bar.
