How Do You Use A Vinyl Tablecloth To Make An Outdoor Cushion?
Vinyl tablecloths are the perfect material to use if you want to make an outdoor cushion, because the vinyl will protect the cushion from weather and tearing. The problem is that many sewing machines have a difficult time handling vinyl. Sewing the cushion by hand is easier and can be done with a few basic tools. Fold the vinyl tablecloth in half. Use the ruler and fabric marker to trace a large square for the cushion, then cut out the square so you have two equal-size pieces of tablecloth. Place the two pieces of fabric together so that the exterior vinyl surfaces are face to face. The cushion will appear to be inside out. Thread a glover needle with vinyl thread in a color of your choice. Use enough thread to cover the perimeter of the cushion. Sew the fabric pieces together about 1/4 inch from the edge, making sure that each stitch is equal in size. Carefully sew your way around the perimeter, leaving a 3-inch opening at the end.
