How Do You Use Cardboard Milk Containers For Seedlings?
• Cut the milk carton in half or even three quarters the way to the top. Poke a few small drainage holes in the base of the carton. • Fill with seedling soil. Leave a little space free at the top of the carton. • Plant the seeds or seedling into the carton. Try and keep it to one to seeds or seedlings per carton. • Keep watered regularly. Transplant the plant when the seedling is strong enough. • Tape up the lid end of the milk carton. This won’t need to be done if you have used the screw off plastic lid; simply replace the cap for this purpose. • Cut out a rectangular shape on one side of the milk carton. Use scissors or a craft knife. • Poke a few small drainage holes in the base of the carton. • Put the carton on one side, with the cut side facing the top. Fill with appropriate seedling potting soil. Plant seedlings along the length of the carton.
